What Drives Us

Our Mission

Hope Recuperative Care offers Hospitality, Help and Healing to homeless neighbors who are medically ready to leave the hospital, but have nowhere to call home. Guests rest and recuperate in a supportive, home-like environment. Our goal is to assist guests in obtaining physical, emotional and spiritual health by creating lasting relationships through community.

What we do

Services Provided

Z

A Safe Hospital Discharge

Hope Recuperative Care is a ministry of The Anchor United Methodist Church and works in partnership with New Hanover Regional Medical Center, and Winter Park Baptist Church to provide free, temporary shelter to hospital patients who are medically ready to leave the hospital, but have no home to recover in. Guests are invited to stay free of charge in exchange for abiding by our Shared-Community Guidelines and a few simple rules.

Hospitality

At Hope Recuperative Care, we host guests in a home-like environment where guests enjoy their own rooms (private/shared room), three meals a day (Supper is served at 6pm everyday and family/friends are invited), laundry facilities, transportation to doctor’s appointments, case management services and 24/7 staff/volunteers who keep the space clean and provide abundant hospitality.  We are here to provide Rest, Recuperation and Recovery.

Spiritual Care

HRC is a ministry of the Anchor Church so guests are invited to practice the rhythms of discipleship that the staff and volunteers adhere to.  These rhythms include: morning prayer, scripture reading, intentional community meals, and holy listening. Participation is strictly voluntary. Our goal is to provide a physical, emotional, and healing environment where all guests feel relaxed, rested and safe.

Case Management

Hope Recuperative Care partners with local organizations for case management services.  Having professional case management for our guests helps to equip them in their next steps after transitioning from  Hope Recuperative Care.  Pursuing housing solutions, ongoing medical care, and transportation are just a few of the details that local case managers help oversee to ensure a path towards indenpendance.

Getting Involved

You Can Provide Hope

Volunteer

Volunteers are the heartbeat of HRC by providing care, compassion and company to our guests. We anticipate a variety of volunteers from different walks of life, which will bring diversity to our community. We invite volunteers to serve out of their unique gifts and skill sets and share in the holistic healing of our guests. HRC could very well forge life-long, life- changing relationships.  We welcome individuals, community groups, and businesses to volunteer whatever your skill level.

Make a Donation

Hospitality and love are totally free, but it takes financial support to cover things like staff, electricity, and food.  Your financial gifts are used directly for the care and support of our guests.  Since Hope Recuperative Care is a ministry of The Anchor Church your gifts are tax-deductable.  Corporate sponsorships are a great way for local businesses to invest into the community in a meaningful way.  Individuals donations of any amout are always appreciated.
