What Drives Us
Hope Recuperative Care offers Hospitality, Help and Healing to homeless neighbors who are medically ready to leave the hospital, but have nowhere to call home. Guests rest and recuperate in a supportive, home-like environment. Our goal is to assist guests in obtaining physical, emotional and spiritual health by creating lasting relationships through community.
What we do
A Safe Hospital Discharge
Hope Recuperative Care is a ministry that works in partnership with New Hanover Regional Medical Center, and Winter Park Baptist Church to provide free, temporary shelter to hospital patients who are medically ready to leave the hospital, but have no home to recover in. Guests are invited to stay free of charge in exchange for abiding by our Shared-Community Guidelines and a few simple rules.
At Hope Recuperative Care, we host guests in a home-like environment where guests enjoy their own rooms (private/shared room), three meals a day (Supper is served at 6pm everyday and family/friends are invited), laundry facilities, transportation to doctor’s appointments, case management services and 24/7 staff/volunteers who keep the space clean and provide abundant hospitality. We are here to provide Rest, Recuperation and Recovery.
HRC is a ministry where guests are invited to practice the rhythms of discipleship that the staff and volunteers adhere to. These rhythms include: morning prayer, scripture reading, intentional community meals, and holy listening. Participation is strictly voluntary. Our goal is to provide a physical, emotional, and healing environment where all guests feel relaxed, rested and safe.
Hope Recuperative Care partners with local organizations for case management services. Having professional case management for our guests helps to equip them in their next steps after transitioning from Hope Recuperative Care. Pursuing housing solutions, ongoing medical care, and transportation are just a few of the details that local case managers help oversee to ensure a path towards indenpendance.
